Twins manager Gardenhire tossed for arguing call

Published May. 28, 2011 10:12 p.m. ET

Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire has been ejected for the 55th time in his 10-year career.

Gardenhire was tossed by second base umpire Andy Fletcher for arguing his call that ended the sixth inning, when Denard Span was picked off second base by Los Angeles Angels pitcher Jered Weaver.

Weaver threw to shortstop Erick Aybar, who got his foot in front of Span's hand and tagged him before he reached the base. Fans booed and the manager charged out in protest, but television replays appeared to show that Span was out.

This was third ejection of the season for Gardenhire.
