Twins closer Glen Perkins dealing with back spasms

Published Aug. 27, 2015 3:14 p.m. ET

Twins closer Glen Perkins told reporters Wednesday night that he has been dealing with back spasms, which is why he hasn't been available for the last two games.

Perkins, who missed time last week due to a bulging disk in his neck, is disappointed that he hasn't been able to help his team during a critical point in the season.

"It's frustrating getting a cortisone shot, coming back and having my back lock up," Perkins said via Pioneer Press. "It isn't how I planned things. It's been a crappy week."

Perkins has been receiving around-the-clock treatment on his ailing back, but manager Paul Molitor didn't give a time frame for his return.

"I can't tell you how long it's going to be," Molitor said. "With backs, you're just not sure."
