Twins' Casilla injures left ankle

Published Aug. 7, 2010 9:27 p.m. ET

Alexi Casilla left the Minnesota Twins game with a injured left ankle.

Casilla scored from second base on a single by Joe Mauer in the third inning against the Cleveland Indians. He appeared to jam his left ankle in a slight collision with the left foot of catcher Chris Gimenez, whose leg was extended to block the plate. Casilla beat the throw by several feet, but slid anyway.

Casilla was replaced by Trevor Plouffe at second base in the bottom half of the inning.

On Friday night, Casilla had a career-high four RBI in Minnesota's 7-6.
