Tigers' Peralta back from suspension

Published Sep. 27, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

Jhonny Peralta is set to return from a 50-game suspension Friday night, starting in left field for the Detroit Tigers against the Miami Marlins.

Suspended for his involvement with the Miami-based Biogenesis lab, Peralta is in the starting lineup and playing outfield for the first time in his major league career. Normally a shortstop, he played seven innings in left field Thursday during an instructional league game.

Jose Iglesias has taken over as the Tigers' shortstop.

Peralta will bat fifth and is expected to play in all three games this weekend.
