Tigers get to All-Star Cliff Lee in big second inning

Edwin Jackson tuned up for his first All-Star game with another strong outing for the Detroit Tigers.

Jackson pitched seven sharp innings to help the Tigers beat Cliff Lee and the Cleveland Indians 5-1 on Friday night.

Marcus Thames hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning for Detroit, which has won three straight. Josh Anderson had a two-run single.

Jackson (7-4) allowed four hits, including Ryan Garko's homer. The right-hander stopped a five-start winless stretch, earning his first victory since June 6.
