Syndergaard says he wants to be a 'Met for life'
Now that it's the offseason, you can't turn on the TV or check Twitter without seeing a handful of trade rumors and speculation. Fans and analysts alike create hypothetical trades based off of team needs and fits and this and that.
For example, the New York Mets have a plethora of young pitching. Wouldn't it make sense to trade one to shore up a part of their lineup? Maybe Zack Wheeler? Or what about Noah Syndergaard? He just had a huge offseason, could be a good time to sell high on the 23-year old.
While all of this speculation is interesting to ponder, Syndergaard wants none of it. In fact, if it were up to him, he'd remain in New York for his whole career.
“I love it here,” Syndergaard told the New York Daily News. “I had some time after the season and I wanted to just experience all I could of it. I wanted to do things I couldn’t do in the season and I am having a lot of fun.
“I want to be a Met for life,” Syndergaard said. “I love it.”
Sydnergaard has been touring the city, something he hasn't had the chance to do this year.
“When I came here for the (2013) Futures Game we went to Times Square and I thought it was amazing. Being from a small-town I’d never seen anything like it and I wanted to come back,” Syndergaard said. “Now, I’ve had a chance to broaden my horizons from Time Square and explore more of the city.”
The 6-foot-6, 240 pound Texan enjoyed a huge rookie season in 2015, tossing 150 innings, striking out 166 while maintaining a 3.24 ERA. He also made three starts in the postseason, earning the only win for the Mets in Game 3 of the World Series.
