Stephen Vogt dealing with minor elbow strain

Published Jun. 24, 2015 12:28 p.m. ET

Oakland Athletics catcher/first baseman Stephen Vogt was out of the A's lineup on Tuesday night in Texas with what team called an 'elbow strain', but it isn't expected to be a big deal.

In fact, Vogt will be in Wednesday night's lineup at first base against the Rangers.

Joe Stiglich of CSN Bay Area mentioned on Tuesday that Vogt received a cortisone shot for his left elbow to alleviate some of the pain. What's more, Vogt has apparently been dealing with the issue for 'weeks', but since it affects his non-throwing elbow it hasn't been a factor in his defense or at the plate.

It's fortuitous for Oakland that Vogt's left elbow is the one experiencing the discomfort, as his bat has been extremely valuable. Entering play Wednesday, Vogt is slashing .294/.393/.545 with 13 home runs and 51 RBIs as he tries to earn his way to his first career All-Star selection.
