Sore Jacob deGrom to miss next turn in Mets' rotation

NEW YORK (AP) Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom will miss his next turn in New York's rotation because of a sore muscle in his right side.

Manager Terry Collins said Sunday that Logan Verrett will start in his place.

DeGrom won the Mets' home opener Friday, allowing one run and five hits over six innings during a 7-2 victory over Philadelphia. DeGrom came out as a precaution after 76 pitches.

His regular throw day between starts would have been Sunday. DeGrom did not have an MRI, according to Collins.
