Scott Kazmir leaves start with shoulder tightness, undergoes MRI

Published May. 27, 2015 7:08 p.m. ET

Oakland A's left-hander Scott Kazmir left Wednesday afternoon's start against the Detroit Tigers after just three innings with what the team called 'shoulder tightness'.

Kazmir, who would be a valuable trade chip for contending clubs if the A's decide to 'sell' prior to the July 31st trading deadline, was removed after completing the third inning. In the frame, he exhibited a bit of wildness, walking the bases loaded before escaping without allowing any runs.

After the game, Kazmir underwent an MRI on the shoulder, but the team wasn't expecting any concrete updates until Thursday:

So far in 2015, Kazmir has gone 2-3 with a 3.09 ERA in nine starts (entering play Wednesday), and is in the final year of his two-year contract with the A's.
