Scioscia confident Black will bounce back quickly from Padres' dismissal

BY foxsports • June 16, 2015

When the San Diego Padres fired manager Bud Black on Monday, it was met with surprised reactions from many around the league (and a new interim manager announcement on Tuesday).

One of those reactions came from Mike Scioscia, current Los Angeles Angels manager and a longtime colleague/friend of Black. The two were on the same staff in Anaheim when Black was the Halos' pitching coach from 2000-2006, and as such they have a strong bond.

Said Scioscia to David Adler of MLB.com regarding Black's dismissal: "First of all, Bud's a great manager, great baseball mind, great friend, and it's tough, I think, just the nature of the position. But I'm sure his phone is already ringing. It won't take long for him to get offers, trust me."

Given Black's track record and time in the game, it's hard to disagree with Scioscia's expectation that Bud will find himself a new employer quickly.
