Russell Wilson smashes home run in batting practice with Rangers
By Darren Hartwell
Russell Wilson passed on his baseball career to play in the NFL, but make no mistake: he still can rake.
The Seattle Seahawks quarterback, who excelled in both sports at NC State, recently stopped by Texas Rangers training camp for the second straight year to take a few swings during batting practice.
Yet this was no guest appearance, as Wilson launched an impressive home run while getting his hacks in.
Wilson was good enough to get drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the fourth round of the 2010 MLB draft and was acquired by the Rangers in the 2013 Rule 5 draft, so that hardly was a lucky swing.
The 26-year-old doesn’t have any serious plans to venture into Bo Jackson or Deion Sanders territory as he appears focused on earning some Super Bowl redemption after this season’s heartbreaking loss to the New England Patriots.
But still, there are worse second options than a professional baseball career.
