Royals put Eibner on DL, option Gee to Triple-A Omaha

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Kansas City Royals placed Brett Eibner on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a left ankle sprain.

Eibner injured his ankle Tuesday night while chasing down Brad Miller's triple in the fifth inning of the Royals' 10-5 victory over Tampa Bay.

Eibner made his big league debut Friday. And on Saturday he had two hits, including a walk-off single, in the Royals' seven-run ninth inning to defeat the Chicago White Sox.

The Royals also optioned right-hander Dillon Gee, who was the winning pitcher Tuesday, to Triple-A Omaha. Gee gave up four runs and nine hits, including a home run, and a walk in five innings against the Rays. Gee, who was with the New York Mets the previous six seasons, is 2-2 with a 4.28 ERA in 11 games, including four starts.

The Royals recalled outfielder Reymond Fuentes, who was their opening day right fielder. He was optioned April 19 to Omaha after hitting .238 in six games when Jarrod Dyson came off the disabled list. He hit .302, scored 10 runs and stole six bases in 17 games with Omaha.

The Royals also recalled right-hander Peter Moylan, who was optioned Sunday to Omaha. Moylan was 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA with seven strikeouts in 7 1-3 innings with Kansas City.
