Royals' Getz likely out for season

Published Sep. 22, 2010 1:00 a.m. ET

Kansas City second baseman Chris Getz will likely miss the rest of the season because of symptoms from a concussion earlier this month.

Royals trainer Nick Kenney says Getz was evaluated by concussion specialist Dr. Micky Collins and is having balance problems when he moves his head. Kenney said it will take about two or three more weeks for those symptoms to subside.

Getz was hurt running the bases on Sept. 12 against the Chicago White Sox. He's hit .237 in 72 games for the Royals, who were playing Detroit on Wednesday night.
