Rockies' Tulowitzki jokes about making it tough for drafted SS Rodgers

Could the Colorado Rockies’ first round Draft pick, shortstop Brendan Rodgers, be the heir apparent at short to Troy Tulowitzki? With Tulowitzki’s current contract running through 2020, and Rodgers just 18-years-old, there’s plenty of time for Rodgers to develop and perhaps learn from Tulo.

Per Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post, the current Rockies shortstop joked about how he would make things tough for Rodgers:

“I think he said I was going to give him some tips, but I will probably give him no tips. I will probably give him the cold shoulder, keep that edge and make it tough for him.”

According to Saunders, Tulo was probably kidding, but he’s not sure. Tulowitzki recently spoke about the importance of a veteran leadership toward younger players, and he seems to be doing that with teammate and fellow infielder Nolan Arenado, so, yes, Tulo was most likely joking.
