Rockies place Nicasio on 15-day DL

The Colorado Rockies have placed right-hander Juan Nicasio on the 15-day disabled list Sunday because of a strained left knee and recalled righty Guillermo Moscoso from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Nicasio was injured in the second inning of his start Saturday against the Los Angeles Dodgers when put his foot down after turning his body to the right to try to field a ball hit through the middle.

Manager Jim Tracy said Nicasio's injury is not believed to be serious, but Nicasio will have a precautionary MRI on Monday.

Nicasio is 2-3 with a 5.28 ERA in 11 starts in this comeback season. He was hit in the right temple with a line drive on Aug. 5 and fractured his skull and broke the C1 vertebrae. He recovered to open the season in the Rockies rotation as their No. 3 starter.
