Rockies give Todd Helton a horse

Published Sep. 26, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

Mariano Rivera must feel slighted.

Rivera has received some pretty awesome gifts during his season-long farewell tour, but the Rockies swung from the heels with their gift to Todd Helton.

Helton, who is retiring after 17 seasons with Colorado, was honored on the field at Coors Field prior to the Rockies’ game against the Red Sox on Wednesday — his final game in Colorado. The coolest moment may have been Helton catching the ceremonial first pitch from his daughter, but the strangest moment involved an animal.

The Rockies gave Helton a horse — yes, an actual horse — as a going-away present. The horse’s name apparently is A Tru Bustamove.
