A baseball fan who ran onto Yankee Stadium during Monday night's Game 3 of the American League Championship Series intended to confront star slugger Alex Rodriguez over his reported relationship with Hollywood star Cameron Diaz, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.

Bronx man Grim LeRogue, 33, had a crush on Diaz and "thought by going out and choking A-Rod he'd be a hero to her," a source told the newspaper.

According to the source, police found a picture in LeRogue's pocket of Rodriguez with his face crossed out and a gun pointed at his head.

ESPN reported he also had pictures of Diaz, but was not carrying any weapons.

LeRogue attempted to rush the third baseman in the top of the fifth inning of the game against the Texas Rangers, but was tackled by stadium security, police said Tuesday.

He was charged with assault and interfering with a sporting event, and was undergoing a psychiatric evaluation at Bellevue Hospital.
