Report: Chad Billingsley expected back within 4-6 weeks

Published May. 19, 2015 6:06 a.m. ET

The Phillies officially announced Monday that right-handed pitcher Chad Billingsley was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right lat muscle.

According to a report from MLB.com, the right-hander is expected to return to the rotation somewhere between four and six weeks.

Billingsley has a history with elbow injuries, which kept him sidelined the past two seasons for his former team, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

"The Phillies had a concern that if Billingsley compensated for the lat strain it could put more pressure on his elbow," MLB.com's report reads.
