Report: Bud Selig will be elected to Hall of Fame

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Former MLB commissioner and Brewers owner Bud Selig will be elevted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the newly created Today’s Game Era Committee, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Selig, 82, began serving as commissioner on an interim basis in 1992 and took over the job full-time in 1998. He retired in 2015, leaving the post for Rob Manfred to inherit.

Selig achieved labor peace during his time as commissioner, and helped lead a charge against performance-enhancing drugs.

The committee is made up of eight Hall of Fame players, five Hall of Fame executives and three Hall of Fame writers and historians. 12 votes are needed for induction.
