PHILADELPHIA (AP) Maikel Franco has singled with two outs in the seventh inning for the first hit off Cincinnati Reds right-hander Mike Leake.
Leake retired his first 11 batters Wednesday night against the Philadelphia Phillies before walking Chase Utley on a close 3-2 pitch in the fourth. Leake hopped off the mound, thinking it was strike three. He walked Carlos Ruiz in the sixth.
Leake threw 84 pitches through six innings and had five strikeouts. Jeff Francoeur's liner to center to end the sixth was the hardest out.
Leake was 0-3 with a 12.86 ERA in his previous three starts.
