Red Sox hurler sends Chris Colabello some liquor after beaning him
It's not always easy to apologize. For Boston Red Sox hurler Steven Wright, it's sending a player you beaned the day before a bottle of liquor.
Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Chris Colabello found the gift in his locker room Monday, a day after getting hit on the helmet with a fastball by Wright.
"Steven decided that he was going to send over a gift," Colabello told reporters. "He didn't have to. I'm sure that's not cheap, too."
Wright wanted Colabello to know the pitch wasn't intentional and thought the gesture would do the trick.
"It's just more of a token of saying I'm sorry," Wright said. "I didn't really want it to be a public thing because it was really between me and him.
"I know it's not a necessary thing. The gift was more for me than it was for him to kind of ease it for myself for what happened."
