The Boston Red Sox have claimed right-handed reliever Sandy Rosario off waivers and designated outfielder Che-Hsuan Lin for assignment.

Rosario was claimed from the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. In four games for them this season, he gave up six runs in three innings. He has pitched in 10 major league games, all with Miami during the last three seasons.

Rosario made 25 relief appearances this year for Triple-A New Orleans with a 1.04 ERA. In 26 innings, he had 24 strikeouts and two walks.

Lin appeared in the majors for the first time this year. He hit .250, going 3 for 12 in nine games with the Red Sox. In 113 games at Triple-A Pawtucket, he batted .247 with two homers and 30 RBIs.
