Castillo singled and scored in four at-bats but also dropped a fly ball in right field for an error during the Angels' nine-run fifth.

It's Castillo's first major league stint of the season. He played 10 games for the Red Sox last year, batting .333 with two homers and six RBIs. He was batting .327 in Triple-A this year.

Outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. was optioned to Pawtucket to make room for Castillo on the roster. Bradley is 0 for 11 with the Red Sox this year.
