Mike Cameron hit a three-run homer, Darnell McDonald also connected and the Boston Red Sox beat the San Francisco Giants and their top pitching prospect 4-2 on Saturday.
Scott Atchison (1-1) pitched 2 1-3 innings for the win against his former team after Boston starter Clay Buchholz was removed after only one inning because of a hyperextended left knee that he hurt on the bases in the top of the second after a single.
The Giants called up Madison Bumgarner (0-1) from Triple-A Fresno to make his 2010 debut and second career start. He struck out five and allowed four runs on five hits in seven innings, but had to throw a lot of pitches to get through Boston's dangerous lineup. He didn't get much help from the offense either.
