ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) The Tampa Bay Rays have signed catcher Bobby Wilson, outfielder Corey Brown and utilityman Eugenio Velez, and also acquired minor league pitcher Buddy Borden as the player to be named in a trade this month that sent Sean Rodriguez to Pittsburgh.
Wilson, Brown and Velez signed minor league contracts Friday. Borden completes a deal the Rays made with the Pirates on Dec. 1.
Wilson has spent parts of six seasons in the majors with Arizona and the Los Angeles Angels. Brown played for Boston and Washington over the past four seasons. Velez is an infielder/outfielder who's played with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants.
The 22-year-old Borden spent 2014 at Class A West Virginia, going 7-9 with a 3.16 ERA.
