Rays put four -- FOUR -- starting pitchers on DL on eve of opener

Alex Cobb was among four starting pitchers placed on the disabled list by the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Rays made the moves Sunday to set their roster for Monday's season opener against Baltimore.

Cobb (right forearm tendinitis) and left-hander Drew Smyly (left shoulder tendinitis) were put on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 27. Right-hander Alex Colome (pneumonia) was placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to March 27, while left-hander Matt Moore (elbow ligament replacement surgery) went on the 60-day disabled list Sunday.

Closer Jake McGee (elbow surgery) was put on the 15-day disabled list Sunday. Infielder Nick Franklin (left oblique strain) went on the 15-day DL, retroactive to March 27.

Catcher Curt Casali and reliever C.J. Riefenhauser were optioned to Triple-A Durham. Catcher Bobby Wilson had his contract purchased by the team.
