Rangers cut ties with lefty Wandy Rodriguez

Published Aug. 5, 2015 1:11 p.m. ET

The Wandy Rodriguez era in Arlington appears to be over - the Texas Rangers released the veteran left-hander on Tuesday after designating him for assignment last week.

In 17 appearances with the 2015 Rangers, Rodriguez went 6-4 with a 4.90 ERA. He did have some solid outings, but some recent rough outings took their toll on his standing on the pitching staff.

For his career, Rodriguez is 97-98 with a 4.10 ERA, and while the Rangers were unable to find anybody interested in trading for him, he shouldn't have any problems finding a new club willing to sign him for the league minimum considering there always seems to be a market for left-handed pitchers.
