Rangers' Cruz out after being hit by pitch again

Published Apr. 3, 2012 10:22 p.m. ET

Rangers right fielder Nelson Cruz sustained a bruised left elbow after being hit by a pitch again in an exhibition game.

Cruz left Tuesday night's game against the Mexico City Red Devils after being hit in the third inning by Rolando Valdez.

The Rangers said X-rays were negative and Cruz is day to day with a bruise.

It was the second time in a week that Cruz was hit with a pitch. The ALCS MVP sustained a bruised right hand when he was hit last Wednesday in a game against Kansas City in Arizona.

After being hit Tuesday night, Cruz immediately grabbed his left arm as manager Ron Washington came out to check on him. Cruz walked to first base, but was replaced by a pinch-runner.
