The Texas Rangers claimed infielder Hernan Iribarren on waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Rangers made the announcement Saturday before their game against the Cleveland Indians. To clear room on the 40-man roster, right-hander Eric Hurley was placed on the 60-day disabled list.

Iribarren hit .167 with one RBI in six games for the Brewers this spring.

The 25-year-old has a .185 average in 24 career games, 12 apiece for Milwaukee in 2008 and 2009. A left-handed hitter, he batted .311 with three homers and 54 RBIs in 105 games at Triple-A Nashville a year ago.
