Randy Knorr returns to Nationals in player development role

WASHINGTON (AP) Randy Knorr will return to the Washington Nationals as senior adviser to the general manager for player development after being let go as bench coach when manager Matt Williams was fired the day after the season ended.

Knorr's new job was among several announcements made by the Nationals on Thursday.

Others involved in minor league staff assignments include:

- Brian Daubach will be hitting coach at Triple-A Syracuse, after managing at Double-A Harrisburg;

- Matt LeCroy will manage Double-A Harrisburg, after being bullpen coach for the Nationals;

- Brian Rupp will be hitting coach at Double-A Harrisburg, after being hitting coach at Class-A Potomac.
