Quintana starts for White Sox; OF Jordan Danks up

Published Jul. 31, 2013 6:07 p.m. ET

The Chicago White Sox say left-hander Jose Quintana will start Wednesday night's game against the Cleveland Indians.

Quintana will start in place of right-hander Jake Peavy, who was dealt to Boston following Tuesday's game in a three-team trade that also included Detroit.

Peavy was scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday and would have pitched for the White Sox on Wednesday if he hadn't been traded.

Quintana is 5-3 with a 3.55 ERA in 21 starts for the White Sox.

The White Sox recalled outfielder John Danks from Triple-A Charlotte to take Peavy's roster spot. He will be making his third stint with the White Sox this season and is hitting .135 (5 for 37) with one homer and two RBIs in 32 games.
