Pitch purrfect? Hero Cat saves boy, gets recruited by minor-league team
By now just about everyone has seen Hero Cat and her wicked defense. But how is she at getting the ball across the plate?
The Bakersfield Blaze, a Class-A team in the California League, confirmed the cat who famously saved a young boy from a dog attack will throw out the first pitch at their minor-league baseball game May 20.
Tara the cat was caught on tape selflessly saving her young master from the vicious bite of a wayward dog on the driveway of their Bakersfield, Calif., home. The video of the feline's heroics has since gone viral, attracting some 8 million views since it was first posted Wednesday:
So it was just a matter of time before this display of raw physical talent was snapped up by local scouts. TMZ Sports first reported the Bakersfield Blaze's efforts to recruit the fearless feline (along with Jeremy, the boy she saved) to take the mound and toss out the game's first pitch.
The news was later confirmed by the Cincinnati Reds' High-A affiliate on their Twitter account:
It's official! Local HERO CAT will be throwing out a first pitch on Tuesday, May 20th! @TheHeroCat
