Pirates OF Tabata sits with tight hamstring

Published May. 1, 2011 2:58 p.m. ET

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jose Tabata is not in the lineup Sunday so he can rest his sore right hamstring.

Tabata left Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Colorado Rockies in the first inning with tightness in the hamstring after running out a ground ball. Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle said Sunday that Tabata would also sit out Monday's game in San Diego when the Pirates open a three-game series against the Padres.

Tabata is hitting .242 with three home runs and six RBIs in 27 games.
