Phils RHP Charlie Morton out for season with torn hamstring

WASHINGTON (AP) Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Charlie Morton is out for the season because of a torn left hamstring.

The team says Wednesday that Morton is scheduled for surgery on the hamstring next Monday. Recovery time is expected to be six-to-eight months.

Morton was injured while running out of the batter's box on a sacrifice attempt during at Milwaukee on Saturday and went on the 15-day disabled list a day later.

The 32-year-old right-hander is 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA in four starts this season.

Philadelphia has not announced a starter to take his spot in the rotation against Cleveland on Friday.
