Phillies have fired hitting coach Steve Henderson

PHILADELPHIA (AP) The Phillies have fired hitting coach Steve Henderson after finishing the season last in the majors in runs.

Henderson joined Philadelphia in 2012. The team was 71-91 this season and ranked 29th in the majors in batting average (.240), on-base percentage (.301) and slugging percentage (.385).

Six other coaches were asked to return in 2017. They include Larry Bowa (bench), Rick Kranitz (bullpen), Bob McClure (pitching), John McLaren (catching), Mickey Morandini (first base) and Juan Samuel (third base).
