There has been a lot of trade speculation surrounding Cole Hamels this season, and he seized the opportunity to have some fun with it on Thursday.

After the Phillies' win over the Orioles on Thursday afternoon, Hamels' locker was empty and his nameplate was missing, leading reporters to suspect the he was traded.

CSN Philadelphia describes the prank:

Hamels was not available for comment after Thursday’s game, but he did take the opportunity to have a little fun with the situation by emptying the contents of his locker and removing his nameplate. Upon entering the clubhouse after the game, reporters wondered whether the pitcher had been traded. It was just a prank, Hamels having a little fun with everybody.

While a team official confirmed that Hamels hasn't been traded, he won't be taking the mound for the Phillies in his next scheduled start on Friday due to a hamstring strain.
