Pat Courtney of MLB wins Fishel Award for PR work

Pat Courtney of the commissioner's office has won the Robert O. Fishel Award for public relations excellence in Major League Baseball.

The honor was announced Monday at the winter meetings. A former intern with the New York Yankees, Courtney joined the MLB office in 1992 and became vice president of public relations in 2003.

The award is named for the late longtime baseball executive and is picked by active past winners and members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
