Palmer, Angels shut down Red Sox

Published May. 14, 2009 8:30 a.m. ET

It took Matt Palmer 30 years to get his first major league victory, and now he has four in a span of just 21 days — including a complete game against the Boston Red Sox.

The Los Angeles Angels' right-hander overcame a shaky start, pitching a five-hitter and retiring the last 19 batters in an 8-4 victory on Wednesday night.
