Pain sends Rangers LHP Holland to team facility

Published Jun. 11, 2010 11:53 p.m. ET

Rangers left-hander Derek Holland is back at the team's facility in Arizona after feeling pain in his left shoulder halfway through a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Texas manager Ron Washington says Holland will be shut down until the soreness is gone. Holland is only playing catch in the meantime.

Holland had been scheduled to throw off flat ground on Friday in Milwaukee before the Rangers played the Milwaukee Brewers in the start of a three-game interleague series.

But Washington says there's no chance Holland would be ready before the end of the nine-game road trip. Holland is 2-1 with a 4.19 ERA in four starts and one relief appearance.
