Padres plan to put Harang on DL
The San Diego Padres are expected to place starting pitcher Aaron Harang on 15-day disabled list within the next two days and say that starter Dustin Moseley is expected to miss one start.
Harang has been bothered by a bruise in his foot since last week.
''I don't think it's fair to keep trying to go out there and make it worse over the long run,'' Harang said.
Moseley, who is 2-6, with a 3.16 ERA, slightly dislocated his left shoulder while batting in his last start, Wednesday against Colorado.
Harang (7-2. 3.71) won in his last start on Thursday against Washington but said he's not sure how or when he hurt the foot. Harang, who has been wearing a walking boot for the past few days, said the foot has been bothering him since last week.
X-rays were unable to pinpoint a problem.
Right-handed pitcher Anthony Bass will be called up from Double-A San Antonio to make his major-league debut in Harang's spot Monday night at Colorado. Bass is 6-3, 3.53 ERA in 11 starts at San Antonio.
If Moseley misses a start, the most likely candidate to replace him in the rotation is left-handed Wade LeBlanc from Triple-A Tucson.
