Padres on both sides of historic 10 hit, 10 K games
On Monday, Padres pitcher Andrew Cashner had an aberration of a game against the Mets. Not only did he give up 11 hits, but he struck out 12 batters -- accomplishing both in less than five innings of work. It was the first time in major league history that a pitcher had given up at least 10 hits while striking out at least 10 batters in less than five innings.
It happened again on Tuesday. Oddly enough the Padres were actually on the other end of the feat. Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard gave up exactly 10 hits and had 10 K’s in four innings. Bud Black had the perfect remark to the oddity of the event, per U-T San Diego:
“As they say,” Black said, “turnabout's fair.”
They also say that things always even out in baseball.
