Padres call up Chris Nelson from Triple-A

SAN DIEGO (AP) The San Diego Padres have selected infielder Chris Nelson from Triple-A El Paso on Friday.

Nelson hit .293 for the Chihuahuas this season, after signing with the Padres on June 19.

Nelson has appeared in 255 major league games, where he hit .268. He played in the majors in 2013 for the Rockies, Yankees and Angels.
