On Saturday night, David Ortiz's first-degree assault on a dugout phone set the sports world ablaze, with the buzz lasting well into Sunday. Funny how things can change in less than 24 hours.
To recap, after a controversial called strike on a 3-0 count led to his striking out, Ortiz went back to the visiting dugout in Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore and did this:
But on Sunday, everybody — including Ortiz — showed up to the park in a much better (and comedic) mood. First, a couple of Red Sox teammates did some repair work on the phone before the game, and Ortiz approved:
In the third inning, Big Papi belted the ball this time, and made a return visit to the dugout phones:
