Orioles GM Duquette: 'We'll be active on the trade front'
If you're a Baltimore Orioles fan, grab the popcorn.
GM Dan Duquette expressed confidence to MASN that the Orioles will be able to move outfielder Delmon Young, who was designated for assignment:
"Delmon is a qualified major league hitter and hopefully we will be able to find a spot for him in a few days."
Designating Young for assignment isn't a surprise, as the team has been looking to trade him:
However, that will not likely be the last move for them as Duquette expects to have a busy July:
"We're working on a number of different conversations. We'll see how that develops. I'm glad we're back in the race and we've got a good roster at Triple-A and we've got a good roster in the big leagues. We're going to try to keep it going.
"We'll be active on the trade front. We've had active discussions with a number of teams already."
Heading into Wednesday's games, the Orioles were tied for first place in the American League East, where four teams are within a game of the division lead.
