Orioles fans with son Camden name newborn daughter Yardley

Colleen and Tony Serra, diehard Baltimore Orioles fans who named their first son Camden after the MLB team’s ballpark in 2010, continued the unique theme by naming their daughter, born in June, the equally unique name of Yardley.
The Serras, who have attended every Orioles home game at Camden Yards (now technically named Oriole Park at Camden Yards) since 2010, clearly have an affinity for the beautiful venue.
“We are obviously obsessed with Camden Yards,” Colleen told D.C. Sports Bog.
Indeed.
“Obviously, when you pick names for your kids you’re trying to think of things that are meaningful for both of you,” she added. “We both grew up going to games. [Camden Yards] holds a special place in our hearts and it’s a place that we’re going to keep coming back to, so it just seemed fitting.”
The Serras stopped on the way home from the hospital following the birth of Yardley to snap a photo of their newborn daughter and the ballpark for which she is named.
Believe it or not, the Serras aren’t even the first Orioles fans to name a child after the Orioles stadium. A boy named Camden Yards paid a visit to the ballpark last year, even getting a chance to take a stroll around the field.
Regarding Camden and Yardley, Colleen pointed out that it’s likely that most folks will only make sense of the reference if the names of the two children are put together.
“If you’re from around here and you’re a baseball fan, you get it, but if you aren’t, and you don’t say their names together, or if you say Yardley and Camden, then you might not put it together,” she said.
Proud new father Tony indicated people who know the couple understand their decision.
“Most of the people say, ‘Wow, that’s fitting for you guys,”’ Tony added. “They go together like peas and carrots.”
Or like Camden and Yardley.
