Obama honors Giants for World Series win
Both parties righted that wrong Monday in Washington, where president Barack Obama welcomed the San Francisco Giants to the White House to be honored for their World Series win last year.
If that seems like it took a while, it did. Sort of. The New York Yankees had visited by April of 2010 after their 2009 win, but the Giants didn’t make it to Washington until July of 2011 after their 2010 championship. To give you a cross-sport perspective, the Dallas Mavericks visited the White House in January of 2012 after the team's NBA Title in June of 2011.
Anyway, Obama made a joke about Tim Lincecum’s haircut and noted that the Giants, who are now 10 games out of first place, are a “second-half team.” We'll see if the President's theory holds up for the rest of the Giants' season.
