Oakland and Atlanta minor league pitchers suspended

NEW YORK (AP) Right-handers Koby Gauna of Oakland and Richie Tate of Atlanta have been suspended for 50 games each for violating baseball's minor league drug program.

The commissioner's office said Friday they each had tested positive a second time for a drug of abuse.

Gauna, 21, was a 20th-round draft pick from Fullerton State last year and went 0-3 with a 3.28 ERA in two starts and 16 relief appearances for the Arizona League Athletics and Vermont of the New York-Penn League, both Class A teams.

Tate, 22, was 5-5 with a 3.68 ERA in 45 relief appearances last season for Rome of the Class A South Atlantic League and is on the roster of Carolina in the Carolina League. He was a 14th-round draft pick in 2010.

There have been 37 suspensions this year under the minor league program, including 22 for drugs of abuse.
