Nori Aoki feels 'back to normal,' expected to return to Giants on Thursday

Feeling better after experiencing concussion symptoms, Nori Aoki is expected to return to the Giants later this week, which he and the team hope will be the beginning of an extended active stretch.

Aoki, who was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list on Aug. 13, ran sprints and swung a bat on Monday as he prepares to return to the Giants when his DL stint is over on Thursday.

"[He's] doing well," manager Bruce Bochy said. "He feels back to normal."

Aoki reported feeling well and was not diagnosed with a concussion after taking a fastball off his helmet on Aug. 9, but the 33-year-old left fielder was forced to leave his return to the field on Aug. 12 early after experiencing lightheadedness and dizziness.

Aoki has experienced misfortune with being hit by pitches this season, as he was sidelined for a month earlier this summer for a fractured right fibula on an errant pitch as well.

The Giants hope Aoki's bad luck has run its course, as he has had a productive first season in San Francisco, hitting .302/.368/.387 with four home runs, 24 RBI, and 12 stolen bases in 80 games this year.
