TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Nick Swisher is hard at work awaiting his next opportunity.

Swisher took batting practice and worked out at first base Saturday at the New York Yankees' minor league complex in Florida.

The 35-year-old infielder/outfielder, who played for the Yankees from 2009-12, asked if he could work out there and the team said yes.

He says: ''The fact they let me come out here and work is great. It keeps me in the game, keeps me going strong, and I appreciate that. This place is like family.''

Swisher says there is nothing to report yet on where he could wind up but he says, ''I still feel like I can do this.''

Swisher was released by Atlanta late in spring training. He has been slowed the past couple years by knee injuries.
