New York Mets ace Matt Harvey has been the toast of New York since making his debut in 2012. But the City That Never Sleeps might be turning on the self-proclaimed Dark Knight.

The New York Daily News slammed Harvey on Friday for taking to Twitter to thank embattled Donald Trump "for a great day on the new course."

Harvey deleted the post after receiving criticism on Twitter. Trump, who is a Republican presidential candidate, received heavy backlash this week nationwide for making controversial remarks about Mexican immigrants.

NBC, Univison and Macy's were among several businesses that cut ties to Trump after his comments. The PGA of America announced that it was moving its Grand Slam of Golf from Trump's course in Los Angeles earlier this month.

Harvey has had an up-and-down season for the Mets, going 7-6 with a 3.11 ERA. He's 2-5 in his past seven decisions.
